I absolutely love eyebrow-raising, heart-pounding thrillers. I love following a mysterious journey and trying to unravel the knots before the story ends. A thriller (novel..not MJ’s famous song..although I do love those zombies) has an interesting, fast paced plot. It should grip the reader or hold their attention and have them wanting more. A ‘thriller’ is actually an umbrella term, so while my mind may be on those where people get killed every couple of pages, you may perhaps be thinking of spies, detectives or crimes that need to be solved.
Did you know that there are many types of thrillers? They include medical thrillers, mystery thrillers, spy thrillers, legal thrillers and more. My favorite branch of thriller is psychological suspense. That’s where my novel, The Reunion, falls into place. In Chapter One, Be my Guest, readers are introduced to my characters (or players). A bio is given on each character right from the start, giving readers a chance to know who’s who. Be my Guest is a lengthy chapter, but after that, the novel hits full speed…no chance to stop and give much character history. I created it in a way where it never slows down. These characters came to their high school reunion for different reasons but the outcome will shock you. I grew up on horror books and movies, so of course I had to add some gore. It’s actually pretty difficult for me to write a story without grossing out the reader at least once. (Sometimes, I gross myself out.)
The Reunion is a suspenseful, psychological thriller where a handful of alum come together to celebrate but begin to die one by one after being locked in a mansion. Who or what is behind these terrifying events and will anyone survive? Follow the journey, meet the different personalities, form theories from the clues and try to guess what’s going on before the novel ends. You’ll be surprised with the ending!
